Oats are calming, grounding and supportive of gut health, but on their own they don’t quite do the wonders they could. Our bodies thrive when they have healthy fats, fiber and protein, so this is a more nourishing take on morning oats.

The added protein and fiber sustains energy and focus, while also supporting brain and cellular health. The oats and chia make for an ultra gut friendly bowl that supports the balance of healthy gut bacteria which means a cascade of good positive things for the body. Lastly, oats are inherently calming for the body.

Half chia pudding, half oats, full delight. Happy porridging !

INGREDIENTS

Gut Friendly Chia Oats (vegan, gluten free)

For approx. 1

1 c nut milk

1 serving collagen

1/2 tsp vanilla

⁣1/4 c rolled oats

2 tbs chia seeds

1 tsp maple syrup

A generous pinch of salt

Toppings of choice

METHOD

Add the nut milk, collagen and vanilla to a pot, whisk to combine. Then add the oats, chia seeds, salt and maple syrup. Stir to combine well, making sure the chia isn’t clumping as it tends to do. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Adjust the consistency to your liking - for a thinner porridge add a splash of nut milk at the end.

Once ready spoon into a bowl and add your favorite toppings. Here I have cinnamon, persimmon, cacao nibs and rose because that is the season, but there are so many topping options. Tahini, freshly ground flax seeds, raspberries, blueberries.. endless. But if you don’t have any toppings to add, just a sprinkle of cinnamon can also be delightful.

Tip: Use a truly flavorless collagen. It makes all the difference. I love Norcal Organics the most because they are pasture raised and 100% grass fed, but I also use Bullet Proof Collagen. Both are tasteless and dissolve easily - which isn’t the case for all collagen!
