Spring Detox Smoothie
INGREDIENTS
Spring Detox Smoothie
Serves 1
1 c mango (or pineapple, or a blend)
3” piece cucumber (fresh or frozen slices)
1 c greens of choice (I use this blend)
1/3 c, cilantro
1 tbs hemp seeds
1 tbs freshly ground flax
20 g collagen protein
pinch himalayan salt
1 c water or nut milk
METHOD
Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth.
Cilantro: For the cilantro, there is no need to remove the stems, those have nutrients too.
Greens: If you don’t know what greens to do, spinach is always a nice option and quite mild if you’re new to green smoothies. You can start to adjust to taste (adding more) as you get used to them.
Cucumber: For the cucumber, this adds more nutrients and creates a thicker smoothie, if you don’t have any, you can omit it. Frozen zucchini slices also works to make it thicker, or some ice.
Flax: For freshly ground flax, take whole flax seeds and grind them in the blender until fluffy. We want to grind our own flax because flax easily goes rancid, and pre-ground flax is usually rancid already in the store. I grind about 1 cup at a time and keep it in the fridge in a glass jar to add to smoothies, oats, yogurt, etc.
